PIA flight under terrorist attack during landing, one woman killed
Peshawar: PIA flight under terrorist attack during landing, one woman killed. Flight operation suspended at Peshawar Airport that is called Bacha Khan Airport. At least three passengers sustained injuries while one woman died instantly. Flight was coming from Riyadh (RUH) SA to Peshawar (PEW) PK. It was Airbus A310. SSP Peshawar police said that it was a terrorist attack and more then 12 bullets hit the plane.
176 passengers were on-board. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) sources confirmed that areas around airport are full of terrorists and even in past there were constant incidents of firing in air from this area but nothing was done to clear this area even after attack on Karachi airport attack. Air stewart Ijaz Shah had 3 bullets in his body and under operation in hospital.
The same airport and strip is being used by Pakistan air Force.
Air stewart Wajid while talking to Dispatch News Desk said that one bullet hit his leg but he was stable and maintained that “God has saved this flight because one of my colleague had three bullets in his body”. He said adjoining areas of airport are full of terrorists and this is very serious that government has not clean up this area after karachi Airport attack. This happened just two minutes before landing.
Plane was just around 300 feet in air from landing strip when it came under attack and firing was resorted from Tehkal area.
Belly of plane was attacked as said by airports sources. AK-47 used for firing. Fuel tank could be target for firing for blowing the plane.
Peshawar-bound PIA flight PK-756 was landing at the airport when the incident happened. Plane was landed safely. Initial reports suggested at least seven bullets hit the plane from outside the landing strip. This airport is very sensitive but this is engulfed by uncontrolled construction and shanty areas.
