LAHORE: A petition seeking to open the office of Pakistani Taliban in the country has been filed in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday.

The petitioner, advocate Kashif Rehmani, argued that the war on terror has claimed thousands of innocent lives and the country has faced economic loss worth of billions of dollars.

Rehmani said that the US is also interested in holding talks with the Taliban after 10 years of conflict, adding that an office of Taliban has already been opened in Qatar.

Moreover, in his petition Rehmani urged the Pakistani government to stop the conflict against Taliban so peace would come in the country.

The petitioner asked the court to order the government of Pakistan to open Taliban offices in the country and negotiations should be held on immediate basis.
