PakistanPakistan severely affected by Afghan war: President Zardari

ISLAMABAD: A three-decade long war in Afghanistan could not establish peace as Pakistan has severely been affected by the Afghan war, President Asif Ali Zardari said on Friday.

In his address to the concluding session of the National Conference on Interfaith Harmony, the President said there was a need to adopt an approach of peace and reconciliation to tackle the menace of terrorism, adding that he had been pleading with the international community for this.

The President said there was a time when no one in Pakistan would consider becoming a suicide bomber as suicide was prohibited in Islam. He added that religion has been used as a weapon of war.
