Pakistan executes 11 more murder convicts

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 11 death raw convicts were hanged in difference jails across Pakistan early Tuesday morning, taking the number of executions to have been held in the country since December last year to 123.

In Sargodha’s district jail, a triple-murder convict Amjad Ali was hanged under the direction of an additional district and session judge. Ali was awarded death sentence in 2002 for killing two women and a child.

Two condemned prisoners Asif and Iftikhar were executed in Faisalabad’s Central Jail. Asif was awarded death penalty in 1998 for killing a man while Iftikhar was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in 2004 for committing a murder of a person in 2001.

Likewise, a murder convict Sher Ali was executed in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Central Jail. Sher Ali killed a persons in Kahna over a personal dispute, and was sentenced to death in 2001.

The convict Noor Ahmad was sent to the gallows in Toba Tek Singh District Jail because he had killed six persons over a land dispute in 2006.

In addition, the death raw convict Ishaq was executed in Sahiwal District Jail. He was awarded death penalty in 2002 by the additional and session judge Sajid Mehmood for killing a person in Okara district in 1994 over a land dispute.

Similarly, Muhammad Nawaz was hanged in Gujranwala Central Jail for the murder of a person in 1999 over personal enmity. He was sentenced to death in 2001 by an additional and session judge.

Separately, a death row convict Sardar Ibrahim was hanged till death at the Balochistan’s Central Jail Machh. Ibrahim had been convicted of murdering a person in 2003 in Qilla Saifullah.

The executions were also carried out today in Multan and Jehlum Central Jails.
