RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Pakistan armed forces have expressed their firm resolve to continue the military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ and vowed not to allow terrorists fulfill their objectives against Pakistan.

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday and discussed the ongoing operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ in North Waziristan agency including in Shawal area.

“COAS vowed to eliminate terrorists even from the remotest pockets in the area at all cost,” the ISPR said referring to his meeting with the air chief.

During the meeting, the Chief of Air Staff assured full support to ongoing operation against the terrorists.

The operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ has been going on in the tribal region since June 2014. Initially, mainly the air strikes were carried out to destroy the terrorists’ hideouts which caused huge losses to terrorists.

On August 20 this year, the Director General ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa informed via his official twitter account that the Pakistan army has begun its ground operation in the Shawal area of North Waziristan agency as part of ‘Zarb-e-Azb’.

The DG ISPR said that the army chief has commended ideal air and ground coordination between the forces for effective action.
