LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif would not mediate or act as a guarantor for talks with Taliban, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said on Wednesday.

“Nawaz Sharif cannot give any guarantee on the issue of talks with Taliban,” Ahsan said while addressing a press conference.

In a video message, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsnaullah Ehsan had said that if Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan acted as guarantors for the peace talks, they would be willing to negotiate with the government in the best interest of the country.
