NATO halts its supply from Pakistan to Afghanistan

AfghanistanNATO halts its supply from Pakistan to Afghanistan

Pantagon: The U.S. military has halted ground shipments of cargo leaving Afghanistan via Pakistan supply route to ensure the safety of drivers following protests in Pakistan over American drone strikes, a Pentagon spokesman said on Tuesday. Nato supply is also closed from this route because US supply and NATO supply are same operations.

It ay be mentioned that the head of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Monday requested Pakistan to ensure smooth transportation of NATO supply from Pakistan and he hoped that Pakistan will keep open NATO supply route to Afghanistan.

Major political leadership in the country especially Imran Khan, whose party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rules the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, one of the two routes the NATO supplies move in and out of Afghanistan, threatened to cut NATO supplies after November 20 if the US didn’t stop launching drone strikes on Pakistan’s territory.
