ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly unanimously passed “The anti-terrorism amendment bill 2013” on Friday, the bill paves the way for law enforcement agencies to take action against those who finance acts of terrorism and those who benefit from the proceeds of such acts, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The bill, tabled by Law Minister Farooq H Naek, states that an anti-terrorism department will be constituted which would be headed by the prime minister and a national policy against terrorism will be formulated.

The Senate had already unanimously approved the said bill on March 5. According to the bill, suspects accused of terrorism will be interrogated by an inspector level office, while audio video recordings, phone recordings and emails could be used as evidence.

The bill also allows government authorities to take action against financiers of terrorism along with confiscating their assets.
