ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police has arrested former President Pervez Musharraf in the murder case of Ghazi Abdul Rasheed during the Lal Masjid operation in Islamabad.

The case was registered against him on September 2 on the directions of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The development came hours after the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered to release Pervez Musharraf after his bail plea was accepted in a case pertaining to veteran Baloch politician Nawab Akber Bugti’s murder.

On the other hand, Haroon Rasheed, son of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi who was slain in Lal Masjid operation in Islamabad, filed an application on Thursday morning in the IHC, asking it to put the name of former president on the exit control list (ECL).

The application prayed before the court that the former president should be stopped from travelling abroad as he was allegedly involved in the murder of his father.

Rasheed asserted in his application that if Musharraf went abroad it would be difficult to bring him back.
