Military courts receive 12 cases for trial: ISPR

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that the military courts have received 12 cases from the federal interior ministry for speedy trial of terror suspects.

On his twitter account, the Director General ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa wrote on Saturday that the provincial apex committees forwarded 12 cases to the interior ministry to be tried by military courts.

The DG ISPR said that after due scrutiny, the interior ministry sent those cases to the Pakistan army.

Bajwa said that initially 12 cases have been sent for trial by military courts, adding that the legal process has begun.

The military courts have been set up for a period of two years as part of the national action plan against terrorism adopted on December 24 in the wake of the terror attack on the army public school in Peshawar.

Later, the 21st constitutional amendment was also passed by the parliament to give legal cover to military courts.
