Militants kill three policemen in KPK’s Malakand district

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The bullet-riddled bodies of three policemen were found in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Malakand district on Wednesday.

Police said that militants had kidnapped four policemen during an overnight search operation in the district.

Later, the law enforcing agencies recovered three dead bodies of the policemen from the mountainous town of Ailam in Malakand on Wednesday morning.

“Last night militants fired at a police patrol vehicle, followed by a search operation during which four policemen went missing,” senior police official Asif Iqbal told a foreign news agency.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the killing of policemen. However, it is believed that the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is behind such incident.

On Tuesday, the law enforcing agencies arrested 150 suspects in different areas of Peshawar, the provincial capital.

The police sources said that those arrested included 45 Afghan refugees who did not have traveling documents and five absconders.

Moreover, seven Kalashnikovs, 32 rifles, 164 pistols and hundreds of rounds were also recovered by police from the possession of the suspects.
