CrimeMilitants kill electoral candidate in Jhal Magsi; election postponed

NASIRABAD: Some unknown assailants killed an independent election candidate and two of his relatives from Balochistan’s Jhal Magsi area on Tuesday night prompting the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the elections in PB 32.

The bullet-riddled body of Abdul Fateh Magsi, who was kidnapped on Tuesday night, was found on Tuesday morning, police and relatives of the deceased said.

He was contesting elections as an independent candidate from PB-32 Jhal Magsi.

The killing was followed by an announcement by the provincial election commission of Balochistan that elections would be postponed in Jhal Magsi due to the incident.

The Election Commission will reschedule election for this seat after May 11 general elections.

Police have started investigations, but no arrests have been made so far.
