Mastung bus attack kills three Shia pilgrims

QUETTA: Three Shia pilgrims were shot dead while ten others, including three Levies Force personnel, were injured in an attack on a bus in the Digar area of Mastung district, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 18 September, 2012.

“It might be a suicide attack as it seems that a car loaded with explosive material hit the coach of the pilgrims,” Deputy Commissioner, Mastung, Shah Irfan Ghirshin, said.

Officials of the Mastung administration said the passenger bus, escorted by the Levies force, was carrying 10 pilgrims and was on its way from the Pak-Iran border at Taftan to Quetta. When it reached the Digar area, some 40 kilometres from Quetta, it was targeted by a powerful bomb. The blast was so powerful that the bus was damaged badly and all 13 people, including 10 pilgrims and three officials of the Levies force, sustained multiple injuries.
