RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: At least 14 terrorists including some commanders were killed in aerial strikes conducted as part of the military operation Zarb-e-Azb in the volatile North Waziristan tribal region on Tuesday.

In a short statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that air strikes were carried out in Alwara area of North Waziristan agency.

The ISPR said that terrorists were seen dragging some of their dead bodies while fleeing from the area.

On Monday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif addressing the Garrison officers during his visit to the headquarters 4 corps in Lahore said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists had a positive impact in urban areas.

The COAS said that the operation Zarb-e-Azb would continue till elimination of the last terrorist.

Slovenian mountaineer rescued from Karakoram range: ISPR

In a separate statement, the ISPR said that a Slovenian mountaineer named Kajetan Rock Decman who fell sick during Karakoram expedition at height of about 6000 M (18000 F) was rescued by Army Aviation Helicopters on Monday.

The ISPR said that Kajetan Rock was part of a seven-member expedition of the Karakoram mountain range. When the expedition reached the international hiking and altitude expedition camp (IHEC) at 6,000 M, he began suffering from a bout of high altitude sickness.

It said that a rescue request was received by Army which was immediately responded to save the precious life by sending army aviation helicopters.

The Slovenian climber has been evacuated to Skardu and he is stable, the ISPR added.
