KARACHI: The Majlis e Wahdat e Muslimeen (MWM) and the Shia Ulema Council (SUC) have announced to observe three days of mourning against two bomb blasts that took place in Karachi’s Ancholi area last night, leaving at least seven persons dead.
Two back to back explosions ripped through a busy street in Ancholi area of Karachi on Friday night that left at least seven persons killed and 28 others injured. The blasts also badly damaged a number of shops and vehicles.
The Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat Khan said that bombs had been fitted to motorbikes, adding that motive behind the blasts was sectarian.
Meanwhile, the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility for the twin blasts in Karachi’s Ancholi area, saying that they carried out the blasts to take revenge of the US drone strikes.
The TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said while talking to media from an undisclosed location that they will continue to conduct such terror attacks to take revenge of the US drone strikes which killed their leaders.
