KARACHI: A high-level meeting chaired by Interim Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on Friday decided to set up a joint task force to deal with rising incidents of terrorism ahead of the general election scheduled for May 11.

Khoso, who arrived in the city yesterday, convened a meeting at Governor House to take stock prevailing law and order situation in Sindh and especially Karachi.

In the meeting it was decided to constitute a joint task force, comprising federal and provincial law enforcing agencies, to deal with growing incidents of terrorism.

Interim PM expressed the resolve to break the nexus of terrorists. He said that such incidents are an attempt to sabotage the election process.

He directed FC, Rangers and the police to jointly move against terrorists. It was also decided in the meeting that close circuit cameras will be installed at sensitive polling stations in Karachi.

The meeting also decided that all-party conference, convened by the interim Sindh government on April 30, will be taken into confidence about measures being taken to improve the law and order situation.
