PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An explosion took place in Safi tehsil of Mohmand agency on Saturday, killing one security official and injuring two others.

The security officials said that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) which went off in Toran Dara area of Safi tehsil when a convoy of the security forces was passing through the area.

“The security forces’ convoy was on a routine patrol when their vehicles were hit by an IED blast,” a security officials told media.

Resultantly, one security official was martyred while two others sustained injuries who were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Peshawar for medical treatment.

The casualties of security personnel caused by the explosions in the tribal region have become a routine matter as a large of security forces including the Pakistan army personnel are engaged in fight against the terrorists and the rehabilitation work in the tribal region.

The Pakistan military began its war on terror in the restive Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) in late 2003 and later launched the massive operation against various militant outfits in July 2014. Besides, the military is also involved in development work as well as the rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
