PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An explosion took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Capital Peshawar on Wednesday morning, causing injuries to three persons including a child.

The sources said that the incident occurred in Achini area of Peshawar where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted alongside the road went off when a convoy of security forces was passing through the area.

However, the convoy succeeded to pass through safely but three persons including a child standing nearby sustained injuries who were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, police personnel cordoned off the area and began an investigation into the incident.

An official belonging to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) told media that six to eight kilograms of explosive materials were used in the making of the IED.
