LAHORE: Some unknown assailants blew up the 30-inch gas pipeline near Kasmore which resulted in the closure of all the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Punjab on Saturday, sources said.

The provision of gas was suspended after Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) turned off the supply to CNG stations and industries in several cities of Punjab including, Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Shaikhupura and Gujrat.

An SNGPL spokesman said the company suspended supply to CNG stations and industries so gas needed for domestic consumption could be supplied without interruption.

Last week, four incidents of gas pipeline explosions were reported from areas surrounding Kashmore.
