Four policemen shot dead in Quetta

QUETTA, Pakistan: The law enforcement agencies personnel continue to be targeted across the country as four more policemen were shot dead in Pashtunabad area of Quetta on Thursday.

The sources said that unknown assailants riding motorcycles opened fire on a mobile van carrying police personnel in the Manan Chowk area of Pashtunabad when it was on routine patrolling there.

Subsequently, two policemen died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries when they were being shifted to Civil Hospital in Quetta.

The assailants fled the scene successfully after launching the attack on police mobile van.

Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel condoned off the area and began an investigation into the attack.

It was the second attack of the day in which policemen were targeted. Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden motorcycle into vehicle of Deputy Commandant of Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) Malik Tariq in Hayatabad area of Peshawar.

As a result, at least two police personnel lost their lives while six others including the Deputy Commandant of FRP were injured.
