Four killed in North Waziristan drone strike

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A US drone strike was carried out in Shawal tehsil of the North Waziristan tribal region on Monday, killing at least four persons.

The sources said that drone fired two missiles on a compound in the Shahi Khel area of Shawal tehsil.

Subsequently, at least four persons lost their lives but their identity could not be ascertained yet.

Last week, Pakistan condemned the US drone strike that took place in Shawal area of North Waziristan agency on Thursday.

“The Government of Pakistan reiterates its well known position that such strikes constitute a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and once again demands their immediate cessation,” a statement issued by the Foreign Office states.

In the drone strike, at least six militants were reportedly killed. The reports had said that another US drone strike was also carried out in South Waziristan agency on the same day that left at least seven militants including two Uzbeks dead.

The intelligence sources had said that the US drone fired two missiles on a compound in Wacha Dara area of Liddah tehsil in South Waziristan.
