Four Levies personnel were martyred while seven others sustained injured as terrorists attacked an office of the political agent at Bara road in the outskirts of Peshawar to free their accomplices.
Two suicide attackers entered the office of the political agent, where a Jirga (meeting of tribal elders) was being held, and started spraying the bullets. Later on, the attackers blew themselves up.
Rockets and hand grenades were been fired on security forces’ check posts outside the building in an attempt to breach the security and enter into the building where representatives of various political parties were attending the jirga.
According to Eyewitnesses the attackers, wearing uniforms of security forces, got few of their cronies freed, leaving four Levies personnel dead and seven injured in the attack. The area has been cordoned off and forces have started a search operation to round up the attackers. The dead security men and injured were shifted to Lady Reading hospital.
Local PTI leader said that no big damage was done to the political activists and leaders present inside the office however, a political activist was injured in the incident due to the gun shot.
