PESHAWAR, Pakistan: At least 22 militants were killed in precise aerial strikes on Friday in Tirah valley of Khyber agency, one of Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The security sources said that one hideout of the militants was also destroyed when the Pakistan army’s fighter jets pounded militant hideouts as part of the ongoing operation Khyber-I.
The operation was launched in Bara and Tirah Valley of Khyber agency against Lashkar-e-Islam (LI), a banned militant organization active in and around the tribal region and is currently headed by Mangal Bagh.
The military said that more than 150 militants have been killed and 350 militants including more than 20 important commanders have surrendered to security forces since start of the operation Khyber-1.
