Elections 2013ECP directs provincial governments to ensure security of contesting candidates

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner and members of the ECP have strongly condemned the recent killings‚ firings‚ and bomb blasts in Karachi‚ Balochistan‚ Peshawar and Kohat.

In a statement‚ the Commission has expressed serious concerns at the continuing targeting of candidates‚ activists and election campaigns and once again directed all the provincial governments to ensure the security of all contesting candidates and political leaders

It also asked for earnest measures to prevent such assaults to ensure an amicable and guarded atmosphere for the elections where the candidates and parties continue their campaign without fear.

The Commission also expressed its deepest condolence with all the bereaved families on the deaths of its leaders and workers.
