PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Unknown assailants shot dead an officer of the Counter-Terrorism Department of Peshawar Police in Gulbahar area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Capital on Wednesday.

Talking to media, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Dr Mian Saeed said that the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bahadur Khan was on his way to drop his daughter off to school on Wednesday morning.

But as he reached Anam Sanam chowk in Gulbahar area, unknown gunmen riding motorcycles opened fire on his vehicle and fled the scene.

Resultantly, the DSP Bahadur Khan was critically injured while his daughter remained unhurt.

The DSP Bahadur Khan was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
