Blast targets Jaffar Express in Quetta, no loss of life

QUETTA, Pakistan: A planted improvised explosive device (IED) apparently targeting a passenger train went off in Quetta on Friday morning; however, no loss of life was reported in the incident.

The Levies sources said that the Rawalpindi-bound Jaffar Express was passing through an area 13 miles from the provincial capital but in the meantime, a blast took place.

The sources said that the bomb was planted by the militants close to the railway track.

Resultantly, the fuel tank of the Jaffar Express was slightly damaged. However, no loss of life took place in the incident.

Gas pipeline blown up in Dera Murad Jamali

An 18-inch gas pipeline was blown up by militants in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Nasirabad district in Balochistan on Friday.

Police sources said that militants had planted explosive materials close to the gas pipeline which went-off with a big bang, as a result one foot portion of gas pipeline destroyed.

The blast caused suspension of gas supply from Sui to the Uch power plant.

The Frontier Corps and police personnel immediately arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. Meanwhile, an investigation into the incident also went underway.
