IndiaThree blasts reported in Hyderabad, India; 15 dead, 50 injured

HYDERABAD, India: At least 15 people were killed and over 50 others were injured when three bomb blasts went off in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad on Thursday, Indian media reported.

“There have been three blasts and seven people are dead and 47 people have been rushed to hospital with injuries,” an official in the police control said.

The blasts took place simultaneously at around 7pm local time near a bus stand in Dilsukh Nagar of the Hyderabad.

“These were three separate bomb blasts in (the Hyderabad suburb of) Dilsukh Nagar,” Amit Garg, a senior police officer at the scene of one of the explosions, told media. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals.

The police reached the spot soon after the blasts and cordoned off the area.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has strongly condemned Hyderabad bombings.

“This is a dastardly attack, the guilty will not go unpunished (sic),” the PM posted on Twitter.  “I appeal to the public to remain calm and maintain peace,” he added.

The possibility cannot be ruled out that Indian government will blame Pakistani intelligent agencies or Pakistan-based religious organizations for being involved in these attacks.

If  developments are taken into consideration that emerged in the aftermath of similar bombings carried out in the past in India, then it is quite clear that Indian government is likely to accuse Pakistani institutions for these latest attacks as well.
