PESHAWAR: An explosion took place at a crowded market in Peshawar on Thursday killing one person and critically injuring 18 others, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The blast occurred in the city’s Hashtnagri mobile market located near Faqeer Abad bridge in Hasht Nagri area of Peshawar, police said. The bomb was a timed device that used between 1 and 1.5 kilograms of explosive material, it said.

According to officials, one person lost his life while 18 others were injured in the explosion. The dead and injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital by police and rescue teams.

Nature of the blast, however, could not immediately be confirmed.
