PESHAWAR: At least 17 persons were killed and 43 others injured as a blast struck a government employees bus on the outskirts of the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar on Friday.

The incident occurred as a bus carrying more than fifty government employees was going to Charsadda town of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from Peshawar city when it reached Charsadda Road the blast went off.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading hospital by police and rescue teams.

The senior superintendent of police Peshawar Najeeb Khan said that the explosives were planted inside the bus, fearing that the fatalities may take place as most of the injured were serious.
