Attack on PPP rally Khairpur kills 6, hurts 10

SUKKUR: At least six people were killed and ten others sustained injuries in firing at a Pakistan People’s Party political gathering in Khairpur in which MNA Nafisa Shah was due to be the chief guest, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 08 October, 2012.

According to sources, MNA Nafisa Shah was due to arrive at the venue in 30 minutes, two men with automatic weapons resorted to indiscriminate firing on the political workers and later managed to escape.

DIG Police Sukkur Dr Ameer Shaikh and SSP Khairpur Irfan Balouch told Dispatch News Desk (DND) that incident was a clash between the Janwri tribe and denied any links of the incident to the reaction of the Sindh Peoples Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO). They said that the killers have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest the killers.
