Ahrarul Hind claims responsibility for Islamabad attack

ISLAMABAD: The Ahrarul Hind, a lesser-known splinter group of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed the responsibility for an attack on district courts in Islamabad on Monday morning.

A spokesperson for the Ahrarul Hind, Asad Mansoor, told DawnNews that his group was responsible for today’s court attack, saying that the court was targeted as the prevailing system in the country was unIslamic which included the courts and its administration.

Mansoor said that their struggle would continue till Sharia law was implemented in Pakistan.

The Ahrarul Hind had recently parted ways with the TTP over holding of talks with the government.

Earlier in the day, two unidentified assailants stormed courts in F-8 area of Islamabad while firing and hurling hand grenades. Later, the attackers blew them up. As a result, at least 11 persons including additional session judge Rafaqat Awan were killed and 29 others injured.
