PESHAWAR: Senior leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Ghulam Ahmed Bilour was injured in a suicide blast that rocked his party’s political rally in Peshawar on Tuesday while at least ten people including a child and a police SHO were killed in the blast, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported. TTP claimed responsibility for the blast.

Over 50 other people were also wounded in the blast occurred in Peshawar’s Yakatoot area. The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.

Initial reports suggest that it was a suicide attack targeting ANP leader Ghulam Bilour’s car. The car caught fire after the blast in which the driver burnt to death, while Bilour reportedly sustained injuries.

SHO Kotwali Abid Khan was also killed in the blast. Nearby shops were also damaged in the blast.

A spokesperson for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which threatened to attack the ANP ahead of the vote, claimed responsibility for the blast.
