5,550 suspects arrested in KPK during last one week

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: As many as 5,550 suspects have been arrested in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during last one week, the official sources said.

The official sources said that those arrested also include about 1,900 Afghan nationals for not possessing traveling documents.

Moreover, police has also recovered about 1,800 weapons of different kinds and 45,700 cartridges from the suspects.

Under the anti-terror national action plan adopted in the wake of Peshawar army public school terror attack last month, the operations against terror suspects have been intensified across the country.

In view of the Peshawar school incident, certain arrangements have also been made to ensure foolproof security at schools across the country including in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

KPK govt releases Rs1 billion for boundary walls of schools

In his address at a function in Peshawar, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for higher education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said that the provincial government has released Rs1 billion for construction of boundary walls of public sector schools to improve their security.

The provincial minister said that it is difficult to provide foolproof security to all schools due to shortage of police personnel.

In addition, he said that efforts are underway to enroll 700,000 children in schools.
