RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: At least 76 militants including some foreigners were killed in precise aerial strikes carried out in Dattakhel tehsil of the North Waziristan agency on Tuesday afternoon, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a statement, the ISPR said that six militant hideouts, an ammunition dump and seven explosive-laden vehicles were also destroyed in the air strikes.

It was the second time in last three days when aerial strikes took place against militants in North Waziristan’s Dattakhel tehsil where on Sunday as well at least 35 militants including foreigners were killed in air strikes.

Earlier in the day, the security forces conducted aerial strikes in Tirah Valley of the Khyber tribal region that left at least 16 militants killed and 12 others injured.

The report said that five hideouts of the militants were also destroyed in Tirah Valley air strikes.

The air strikes are part of the Zarb-e-Azb, a full-fledged military operation being conducted since June 15 last year in the country’s volatile northwestern tribal region by the Pakistan’s army against various outlawed militant groups including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Jundallah, al-Qaeda, the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) and the Haqqani network.
