39 militants including 2 key commanders killed in N Waziristan airstrikes

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: A total of 39 militants including two key commanders have been killed in latest aerial strikes carried out by the fighter jets in the Datta Khel area of the North Waziristan tribal region, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The ISPR said that a huge cache of arms and ammunition were also destroyed in the aerial strikes.

The air strikes are part of the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb being launched in the country’s restive northwestern tribal region since June 15 against various outlawed militant outfits.

2 suicide bombers killed in Balochistan’s Zhob district

On the other hand, the security forces conducted an operation against the militants in the Gawal Ismailzai area of Balochistan’s Zhob district on Saturday morning during which two suicide bombers were killed.

“One suicide bomber blew himself up while the other one was killed by the security forces,” a security officer said.

The security officer that 500 bombs, 200 kilograms of explosives, 50 jackets, 13 rocket launchers and other weapons were also recovered during the operation.

The security forces also defused bombs planted by the militants in the area, he added.
