34 militants killed in Tirah valley air strikes: ISPR

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: At least 34 militants were killed when jet fighters of the security forces bombarded their positions in Tirah valley of the Khyber agency on Wednesday, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, the ISPR said that a number of hideouts of the militants were destroyed in the attack.

In addition, the security forces also launched ground operation in the area to eliminate militants in Tirah valley.

The air strikes were part of the operation Khyber-I in the Khyber agency launched in October last year amidst a full-fledged military operation Zarb-e-Azb going on in the North Waziristan tribal region since June 15, 2014.

The security forces have intensified their actions against various outlawed militant outfits across the country in the wake of Peshawar army public massacre on December 16 last year.

Eight suspects arrested in Quetta

Separately, the law enforcement agencies arrested eight suspected persons during a search operation in the Balochistan’s capital, Quetta.

The police said that the operation was carried out in Joint Road area of Quetta on a tip-off.
