28 more militants killed in FATA, KPK

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The security forces have killed at least 28 more militants in various parts of the country’s volatile northwestern region.

At least 21 militants were killed and six others injured when aerial strikes were carried out by the Pakistan’s military as part of the ongoing military operation in Khyber agency’s Tirah valley.

The sources said that seven hideouts of the militants were also destroyed in air strikes.

Likewise, five militants including a commander were killed in clashes with the security forces in Dara Adam Khel town of Kohat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whereas two militants were killed in Michni area of Mohmand agency.

During the clashes, two security personnel embraced martyrdom and four others were injured.

Earlier on Friday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited the Khyber tribal region and reviewed progress of ongoing ground operation.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the army chief met will soldiers and appreciated their spirit and high morale.

“We will continue to hit these terrorists where ever they are and operations will continue till we eliminate the last terrorist,” the COAS reiterated according to the ISPR.

The army chief was informed that in three different actions in last two days 62 terrorists have been killed in ground action and another 57 in aerial strikes.
