Middle East22 killed in bomb blasts in Iraq

BAGHDAD: At least 22 people were killed as a series of bomb explosions occurred across Iraq on Friday amid increasing terrorist attacks in the war-torn country.

A suicide bomber attacked a funeral in Dujail, killing four, and two explosions at a neighborhood football stadium left five players dead in Madaen, 30 miles southeast of Baghdad.

A senior police officer’s car exploded in Ramandi and, when a crowd gathered to examine the wreckage, a second blast detonated, killing 10 others.

This is just the latest tragedy in escalating levels of violence since the beginning of the year.

Over 1,000 people in Iraq were killed in May alone, the most violent month since 2006-2007.
