15 militants killed in Balochistan operation

QUETTA, Pakistan: At least 15 militants were killed in an operation carried out by the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in Washuk district of southwestern Balochistan province on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the security force said that one FC soldier was also martyred and three others sustained injuries in an exchange of fire which took place with the militants in Basima area of Washuk district.

The spokesman said that a huge amount of arms and ammunition was also recovered from possession of the militants.

The injured FC personnel were rushed to a hospital in Quetta for medical treatment.

The security forces have stepped up their activities across the country against militants as part of the implementation of anti-terror national action plan (NAP).

So far, over 10,000 terror suspects have been arrested in around 15,000 operations conducted across the country, according to the report on latest statistics on the NAP.

The report said that 460 terror suspects have been arrested in Balochistan during 39 operations conducted in the province since the launching of action plan against terrorism.
