PESHAWAR: A suicide attack occurred inside a madressa in Gulshan colony of Peshawar’s Chamkini area on Friday that left at least 15 people killed and 27 others injured.

Polie said that the suicide bomber detonated his explosives when jumma prayer was being offered at an mosque inside the Madrasah.

The attacker shot at the guards posted at the entrance of the complex before entering the premises where the explosives were detonated, other eyewitnesses said.

The blast prompted police and security troops to arrive at the scene and cordon off the area. Area people and rescue teams initiated rescue and relief operation inside the seminary.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading hospital where medics feared that the number of casualties may increase as several of the wounded were in critical condition.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the incident and the loss of innocent lives while ordering immediate treatment of the victims.

Moreover Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial MInister for Information Shaukat Yousufzai Ali said in his condemnation statement that the attack was an unfortunate.
