KARACHI: Eleven people have been killed and several others injured in firing incidents.

A spokesperson of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat‚ Maulana Akbar Saeed Farooqui was also shot dead near Safari Park in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area by unidentified armed men. His funeral prayers were offered in Karachi this morning.

The killing of Maulana Farooqui sparked protests in different parts of the city.

The Chief of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Allama Muhammad Ahmed Ludhyanvi said the government has given free hand to the criminal elements roaming with impunity.

Two bodies of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers were found from Ibrahim Hyderi area of Korangi. According to MQM the victims were killed after abduction.
