Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan received over 2.1 million votes
Hafiz Khadim Hussain Rizvi – led religious-cum-political party Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) received 21,91,679 votes across the Country in general elections held on July 25, 2018, becoming the sixth largest party in terms of highest number of votes bagged in polls.
Though Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan contested the general elections for the first time but didn’t succeed with regard to enter the legislatures as according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), TLP won only two Sindh assembly seats; however, the number of votes it secured from across the Country took the opponents by storm.
Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan had fielded 178 Candidates to contest general elections from National Assembly Constituencies but none of them could assure his/her place in the Lower House of the Parliament.
As per the ECP report, TLP secured 18,76,265 votes from Punjab; 4,14,635 votes from Sindh; 78,125 votes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; and 10,999 votes from Balochistan.
In terms of receiving highest number of votes, Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan remained at fourth position in Punjab, at seventh position in Sindh, at eighth position in Khyber Pakhtukhwa, and at sixteenth position in Balochistan.
Interestingly, TLP secured more votes in Punjab than Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) which received 1,78,4513 from the province and also bagged six Punjab assembly seats.
