ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Uber’s Chief Business Officer Brooks Entwistle met Pakistan’s state dignitaries to discuss how Uber can support the new government in achieving positive economic growth and opportunities.

On his visit to Pakistan, Brooks Entwistle and the Uber Pakistan team met the Honorable President Dr. Arif Alvi, the Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Federal Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Khan Afridi, the Provincial Minister of Punjab for Industries, Commerce & Investment Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PBIT Jahanzeb Burana, and the Provincial Minister for Finance Punjab Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht.

Uber’s Chief Business Officer terms Pakistan a priority market

The Uber delegation assured the dignitaries that Pakistan is a priority market for the global ride-hailing app having recently launched a variety of mobility services – including rickshaw and motorbike – in order to bring the benefits of the Uber technology to as many parts of the population as possible, and create tens of thousands of new economic opportunities every month.

The delegation also discussed how the government can play a key role in supporting a forward thinking ride sharing sector including introducing a scalable licensing regime and a favorable tax structure to increase investment opportunities and enhance trust and safety.

Brooks Entwistle stated, “We are humbled to have had a major impact on Pakistan’s economy and committed to growing our business and investments going forward. We support the new government’s resolve to push the country forward globally through progressive reforms and believe we can play an integral part given our technological expertise.”

The Uber officials present at the meetings alongside Brooks Entwistle included the Pakistan General Manager Safee Shah, the Head of Business Omar Askari and Head of Policy, Hassan Arshad.

Earlier this year, the CEO Uber Dara Khosrowshahi met with Pakistan’s leadership at the World Economic Forum (WEF).
