ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Subscribers of 3G/4G mobile broadband had crossed 26 million and its penetration has gone up from 3% to over 15%.

After the introduction of 3G/4G, investments in telecom infrastructure had crossed US$ 2.668 billion so far said an official of ministry of information technology.

Introduction of 3G/4G has not only brought telecom sector at par with the developed countries in terms of modern telecom services but has also created more avenues of employment in the fields of e-Commerce, e-health, e-education, IT applications, content development and home-based businesses etc.

World Bank studies indicate that 10 percent increase in high-speed internet connections boosts annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth by 1.38% point, he said.
