ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has said that on the direction of the Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque steps are underway for the provision of broadband services in unserved and underserved areas of the Country.

While chairing a meeting regarding the way forward for utilization of existing optical fiber cable laid in Pakistan at the Committee Room of the Ministry of IT in Islamabad on Monday, the Secretary IT said that masses can be facilitated in a better way through the use of laid optical fiber cable in effective manner.

The Secretary IT said that it is vital to take steps to facilitate people.

Earlier, the Secretary IT was given a briefing on existing optical fiber cable laid across the Country.

The meeting was attended by officers of the Ministry of IT & Telecom, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and the Special Communication Organization (SCO).

The CEO of Universal Service Fund (USF) Haaris Mahmood Chaudhry was also present in the meeting.
