ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) has started biometric verification of EVO/Chargi devices at customer’s doorsteps, said official sources.

According to sources, the move has been started in collaboration with a courier service, TCS. Initially the facility was being offered in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Quetta, Sukkar and Haiderabad.

As per directives of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) the biometric verification of EVO/Charji, Nitro, Vfone devices is mandatory.

A PTA official told that verifications are being continued under National Action Plan. The verification drive is continuation of SIM verification campaign that cellular companies conducted last year.

PTCL had asked its customers to get their EVO, Nitro and Charji devices verified from PTCLs One Stop Shops, Ufone Service centers and franchises or from Ufone retailers in addition to doorstep verification.

According to PTA, there are over 1.2 million EVO, Nitro and Charji customers in the country.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has already inked an agreement with TCS Express & Logistics for sale of PTCL products utilizing the large network of TCS retail outlets in Pakistan. Further information could be obtained from by dialing 0800 80800.
