ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced Quality of Service (QoS) survey results for 2G, 3G and 4G services, being provided by mobile phone operators in the country.

This is PTA’s first QoS survey conducted after auction of 3G/4G spectrum last year and as per results in various cities during 2015, the country’s largest cellular mobile operator – Mobilink has topped the charts for 3G services with average download speeds of 4.04 Mbps and average upload speeds of 3.17 Mbps on its network.

China Mobile Pakistan, Zong remained second with average download speed of 3.66 Mbps and average upload speed of 2.93 Mbps across various cities of the country.

Moreover, Telenor registered average download speeds of 2.22 Mbps and average upload speeds of 1 Mbps while Ufone’s average download speed stood at 1.27 Mbps and average upload speeds of 1 Mbps.

The results further revealed that clearly 10Mhz blocks of 3G spectrum helped Zong and Mobilink to offer better 3G speeds to consumers.

Similarly, with regard to QoS survey results for 4G services, there are currently two 4G operators and Zong topped 4G speeds with 9.4 Mbps average download speed and 6.1 Mbps of average download speeds.

Overall 2G services remained above standard and almost all operators were closely ranked for majority of 2G KPIs.

Mobilink topped for network uptime with a total of 0.23% of downtime experienced on its network while Telenor topped for

“Grade of Service” with 0.55% and remained most accessible network with 99.56 % accessibility.

Mobilink scored best for call connection time with 5.04 seconds, Warid remained best for call completion ratio with 99.54% and Telenor’s End to End Call quality remained best with 3.78 Mean Opinion Score (MOS) which is matrix used to measure call quality.

When contacted here on Monday, Head of Corporate Communications at Mobilink, Omar Manzur told APP that the survey results confirm company’s commitment towards people of Pakistan and endorse foresight into buying the 10 MHz band.

He said it also confirms our successful strategy behind carefully designed 3G network and aggressive roll-out plan.

Omar appreciated the government and the PTA for their support which has helped to lead the cellular industry into a digitally advanced Pakistan.
