ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoIT) has provided training to more than 5,000 staff of different government departments on e-governance system, launched to ensure accuracy, transparency and accountability in decision making.

In this regard, workshops are being conducted to give orientations regarding e-office to officials and familiarize them with good practices and measures already taken by MoIT.

The access of e-office suite software has been provided to more than 25 ministries, divisions and attached departments while fiber optic ring has also been established.

Official sources Wednesday said MoIT and National Information Technology Board (NITB) are in process of rolling-out e-office suite in federal government to ensure delivery of efficient and cost effective public services to citizens of Pakistan.

The sources said in a recent development, the e-office suite has been shifted to National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) data center while MoIT is in-consultation with relevant stakeholders to roll-out e-office suite in provinces through a Public Private Partnership model in collaboration with local IT industry.

It is mentioned here that in spirit of democratic governance, revolutionary policies and visionary approach, present government is giving very high priority to Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, particularly e-government system in the country.

In this regard NITB, on directive of senior management of MoIT, is aggressively pursuing role-out of e-office suite in the federal government and has clearly defined goals and target and formulated different teams to complete the task on fast track basis and for optimal utilization of NITB human resource.

The e-office system is already functional in prime minister office, National Assembly Secretariat and Ministry of Information Technology.

The `e-government intranet’ has also been established for e-communication and more than 75 per cent of federal ministries/divisions are now connected to each other through this system. Survey of all ministries to collect data regarding human resource roles and responsibilities, status of IT infrastructure and workflows of all federal ministries/divisions for configuration of e-office application has also been completed.
