Nokia 6.1 plus isn’t just a larger version of Nokia 6.1. There are many great updates in terms of hardware and software. The best part is, you will get all this at a reasonable price.

It was launched in September 2018 in Pakistan. Dimensions and the weight are 147.2 x 70.98 x 7.99mm and 151 g, respectively. It comes with a hybrid tray. You can use two Nano Sims or just one if you want to increase storage capacity. As memory can be expanded further, using micro SD card.

As far as the charging slot is concerned, finally, you will find USB type C for charging instead of micro USB. It is the faster, flappable, efficient and obviously latest port technology. So, it is a really nice change.

Design & Display

At the first look, which thing attracts our attention?  Design of any smartphone, right? People nowadays are giving much attention to it. You will find the best combination of both, classic design and today’s hottest trends in Nokia 6.1 plus. Due to its amazing design and overall look, it seems to be more expensive than its actual price.

Its weight is just 151 g, which is less than the majority of the smartphones right now. Additionally, dimensions are also perfect, neither too broad nor too long. These things make it so elegant and effortless to use.

It is an all-screen front, have 5.8” LED display, full HD resolution with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. Gorilla glass 3 is present on top for protection. Nokia 6.1 plus also gets a notch, small cut out above the screen. That includes a speaker and the front-facing camera.

The rear side is making it different from others. Glass is also present at the rear side. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the dual cameras arrayed vertically with LED flash. Both, dual cameras (with LED flash) and fingerprint scanner have a chrome lining around them, which is quite appealing.

Volume and power buttons are placed at the right side. Our friend 3.5mm jack is located at the top. The phone has a single speaker located at the bottom with USB-C port.

Performance & storage

We can’t afford to have a phone that shows poor performance, right? Nokia 6.1 plus have passed the test under a regular load! It doesn’t show any stuttering while performing the normal tasks.

Nokia 6.1 plus comes up with 2 memory variants.

  • 3 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage
  • 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage

You can still expand its storage capacity up to 400 GB via a micro SD card. Snapdragon 636 processor has been used in Nokia 6.1 plus. Its review is quite good, as the same processor is powering amazing smartphones like Redmi note 5 pro & Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1).

It doesn’t become hot while playing games. You can easily play mostly games on it. But, this phone isn’t suitable for graphically intensive games. So, we will not recommend it to hardcore gamers.

Software & battery life

Nokia 6.1 plus is an android one smartphone. When released, the phone was on Android 8.1 Oreo but it also offered android one certification. Which means that it will receive two android updates i.e. Android Pie & Android Q. Additionally, three years of security updates are also promised. People who are already using it, admit that overall software support is simply outstanding.

It has 3060 mAh, non-removable Li-on battery, which is enough for full day usage. It also supports Quick Charge 3.0. So, it can be fully charged, from zero to 100%, within 2 hours and 15 minutes. Unfortunately, the bundled charger does not support its amazing feature of quick charging. So you have to buy your own compatible charger.

Sensors

Nokia 6.1 plus has 5 sensors.

  1. Compass/Magnetometer: It is used to determine absolute orientation in NESW plane.
  2. Proximity: This sensor is used to detect the presence of the human ear. So, during a call, it turns off the display to prevent inadvertent keypad presses.
  3. Accelerometer: It is a hardware-based sensor, which is used to detect the orientation of a mobile.
  4. Ambient Light: This sensor automatically adjusts display brightness.
  5. Gyroscope: It tracks the rotation or twist of the gadget.

Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi standards support: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • GPS: Yes
  • Bluetooth: v5.00
  • USB OTG: Yes
  • FM: Yes
  • Supports 4G in Pakistan: Yes

Camera

It has 16MP (f/2.0) camera at front. Dual camera setup (having an autofocus) is present at the back. One is of 16 MP (f/2.0), another one is 5MP (f/2.4). Nokia 6.1 plus’s camera does a great job in the daytime. The only issue with this phone is, it doesn’t perform well in low light.

Price & colors availability

As it has 2 variants.

  • 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage, the price is Rs 35,500.
  • 3 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage, the price is Rs 24,000.

Final Thoughts

We have mentioned Nokia 6.1 plus features. You can get these features in other devices too. But what is making this smartphone unique? Yes, you guessed it right. It is the price factor. Just two cons, camera perform average in low-light and presence of a notch. Otherwise, you are getting the premium design and good performance, in extremely reasonable price.  In our opinion, it is a good choice.
