Mobilink Receives WWF Green Office Award

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Mobilink, Pakistan’s leading provider of voice and data services with over 38 million subscribers, has become the only telco to have received the Green Office Certification for three of its business premises in Lahore and Islamabad.

The latest WWF Green Office Award 2015 was granted after its Head Office, Mobilink House and adjacent IBC II building, Islamabad premises were successfully audited for their consumption of electricity, paper and the residual solid waste and the awareness level of its employees. Overall, Mobilink was able to decrease its consumption of the above resources by 73%.  Mobilink had earlier recorded a 35% reduction in carbon footprint and 50% in solid waste among other measures taken in 2014.

“Mobilink’s Corporate Responsibility function ensures that our employees are aware of environment-friendly practices and make efficient use of resources. The Green Office Award recognizes the continuous efforts that the Mobilink Torchbearers, Mobilink Foundation and the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) departments have put in to establish Lahore and Islamabad offices as eco-friendly premises,” Head of Corporate Communication Mobilink Omar Manzur said.

As part of this initiative earlier in 2014, an Environmental Management System was devised to promote a greener work environment which also helped in reducing Mobilink’s business carbon foot print for the premises. This included day light saving measures, recycle and reuse protocols and fostering of eco-friendly practices amongst Mobilink employees. As part of the program Mobilink continues to reduce the consumption of water and electricity as well as ensure reduction of solid waste produced as a result of its daily work practices. Selected Mobilink Torchbearers were nominated as “Green Wardens,” who advocated the Recycle-Reuse-Reduce (RRR) Scheme to increase awareness among other employees.
